FYFFES BANANAS TOURNAMENT FINALS REPORT
The third and final Fyffes Bananas sponsored Primary Schools Basketball tournament has taken place with a thrilling finale to decide the eventual winners for 2005 / 2006. Going into the final tournament, Allesley Primary School were in pole position with a group of four other schools all still within a chance of lifting the Fyffes Basketball Cup. After the Pool games, Allesley, Christ The King, Holy Family and Whitmore Park had all earned semi final spots.
This is when the real drama started to unfold with three of the semi finalists still in contention to win overall.
Christ The King defeated Allesley in semi final number one with Holy Family defeating Whitmore Park to book the other final spot.
With the final teams set there was still the possibility that Allesley could still win the trophy outright even without qualifying for the final because of the points that they had accumulated in previous tournaments. But is was not to be as Whitmore Park defeated Allesley by a solitary basket in the third and fourth place play off game.

SUBWAY BASKETBALL LEAGUE
This season we have been running a League in the middle coaching group on a Saturday which has met with a level of success.
The League which is sponsored by SUBWAY was set up to provide regular, organised competitive basketball for the players in this age group. We have had three teams all with a coach, a short practice session is held with the coach each week and then we play two games against each other with the scores kept with a league table. Currently leading the standings is the team coached by Coach Pleming who are being hotly pursued by Coach Kearsley’s team with Coach Paplauskas and his team in third place.
Some very close, competitive games have ensued over the weeks which reflect in the league standings.
