Club Relocation
Following months
of discussions, meetings and lots of thought, we have made
a major decision to re-locate the base of the basketball club.
Since the club started in February 2001 our base has always
been at President Kennedy School which has served us well but
has now reached the point where we feel that as a club we need
to move and continue the overall development of the club which
has unfortunately stood still somewhat for the past two years.
Many of our club members have been introduced to basketball
through coaches coming into your schools or if you are fortunate
enough to have teachers who also have an interest in the game,
the basketball club then serves to give you additional opportunities
to play but as it stands at present, the President Kennedy
facility is not up to a standard required to play at a higher
level, such as National League.
Plus, location wise it is not ideal for our development. So,
we have taken the opportunity to re-locate the club to King
Henry VIII School Sports Centre which is almost central to
town without having to really go into town, 2 minutes from
the Railway Station and basically one bus from all points of
Coventry.
More importantly our new base boasts an extremely modern, clean
and spacious Sports Hall plus an adjacent gym. Also, they have
just opened a brand new 25 metre swimming pool and a fully
equipped fitness gym. All of these are factors that have influenced
our decision to re-locate.
We are currently in discussions with the Sports Centre management
to try to secure some additional membership benefits for basketball
club members, further details will be announced on these benefits
will be made available very soon.
Also, with additional club developments, more coaching programmes,
this also means that we need to change the coaching session
times to fit in with the extensive usage that the school has,
obviously they have first call on the Sports facilities.
